Classes

Pre Ballet and Tap 3-4

A creative movement class that introduces your child to basic Ballet and Tap concepts in a fun and creative way.  Emphasis is placed upon imagination, musical awareness, large and small motor skills and learning how to work in a class setting.  Our main goal is to foster a love of movement.  Students will perform two dances in the Recital.


Tumbling   3-6

This class is perfect for 3-6 year olds who love to jazz dance to upbeat pop music while learning beginning tumbling skills. This 45 minute class will introduce dancers to the basics of jazz along with tumbling coordination skills such as rolls, crab walks, somersaults, balance beam, activities on mats and trampoline. Dancers will build strength, balance, flexibility and coordination skills.


Introduction to Ballet ages 5-7

This class will introduce young students’ to the basic vocabulary and style of classical ballet.


Introduction to Jazz ages 5-7

This class will introduce young students’ to the basic vocabulary and style of jazz dance movement


Tiny Hoppers ages 5-7

This class will introduce young students’ to the basic vocabulary and style of hip hop movement.


Level I and Level II Ballet ages 8-10

Ballet positions, technique, and exercises will be covered as dancers develop poise, grace, & confidence.


Level I Hip Hop ages 8-10   

Exciting urban, street-style choreography that focuses on individual style and expression is paired up with popular and age appropriate music to create fun performances.  Students will perform one dance in the Recital.


Level I ages 7-10 Level II ages 11-12

This 45 minute class will introduce dancers to the basics of Jazz. Coordination skills will improve will learning beginning turns, jumps, and fun routines to upbeat and current pop hits they love.


Level III Ballet ages 12-14 (Jr II and other dancers by placement only)

Technique based on body alignment, proper placement and posture. Barre and center floor work are combines with choreography combinations to teach musicality, rhythm, coordination and flexibility.

 

Level III Jazz 12-14 (Jr II and other dancers by placement only)

Our jazz classes enrich and extend students’ technical skills through center and progression work. Skills such as leaps and turns are incorporated into choreographed routines which challenge the dancers’ jazz and memory skills.


Level III Lyrical and Contemporary 12-14 (Jr II and other dancers by placement only)

This class will give students a chance to learn Lyrical and contemporary technique, which incorporates the grace of Ballet with the strength of Jazz and Modern dance all fused together to create expressive performances.


Level III Hip Hop 13& up

Exciting urban, street-style choreography that focuses on individual style and expression is paired up with popular and age appropriate music to create fun performances.  Students will perform one dance in the Recital.


Level VI Ballet (Elite dancers and other dancers by placement only)

Advanced stretching and strengthening exercises are emphasized in Level III ballet. Barre work is continued with a greater emphasis on vocabulary and French terminology. Musicality continues to be emphasized along with balance and coordination through the strengthening of the body core. Center work is introduced with continued focus on the positions of the arms, legs and feet using classical ballet vocabulary.


Level VI Jazz (Elite dancers and other dancers by placement only)

This class will include jazz dance and techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms.


Beginning Jazz and Ballet 

This class is designed for the new older student ages 11-14 years of age who has had little to no dance training. Basics in all areas are taught. This gives the student a chance to be introduced to different forms of dance. 

 

Level I Acro 7-10

Acrobatics teaches flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline & concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique. 

 

Level II Acro 11-13

Students will learn such things as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance, & contortion tricks. Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. This class is great for students looking to enhance their agility, flexibility, & strength.


Company Classes                                                                                                         

 Company is designed for the student who wishes to advance to a competition level of dance. Students are placed in Company classes though yearly auditions. Ballet is a required class for all Company students.
